Fallbrook Amateur Radio Club

October 7, 2023

President Ron Patten, KG6HSQ, called the meeting to order at 1502 hrs.

The pledge of allegiance was conducted by Ron, KG6HSQ.

Ron, KG6HSQ, invited the attendees to go around the room and internet and introduce
themselves.

Brent, KJ6UMY, gave the following financial report.

Ron, KG6HSQ, Gave a report on the club’s Red Mountain 2m repeater antenna problem. The
problem was traced to water in a connector between the antenna and the 0.5 inch dia coax jumper
connecting to the tower hardline. A new connector has been delivered and a return to the
mountain for the repair is pending.

Ron, KG6HSQ, announced that club decals are now available at no charge to club members that
sign up with San Diego ARES. See sdgares.net for sign up. To participate in ARES, members are
encouraged to take online ICS classes, IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 are recommended as a
start in becoming familiar with the Incident Command System.

Ron, KG6HSQ, reminded members that the North County Fire open house is scheduled for next
Saturday, October 14 from 0900-1300 hours. Club table setup will begin at 0800. Member are
encouraged to attend.

Bob, W6RMG, noted that a partial solar eclipse (70%) will happen on Saturday, October 14 from
0800-1100 hours. Indirect viewing or mylar glasses specifically for direct sun viewing are
mandatory.

Ron, KG6HSQ, announced that this years Fallbrook Harvest Faire will be on Sunday, October
22 from 0900-1600 hours. Volunteers are needed, arrival at 0730 hours. Send an email to
[email protected] to sign up as a volunteer. This is a great prep for anyone wanting to
work the Fallbrook Avocado Festival.

Ron, KG6HSQ, reported that this year’s Veteran’s Day Parade will be on Saturday, November 11 Staging at 0845 with a 1000 hrs start. Send an email to [email protected] to sign up as a volunteer.

Ron, KG6HSQ, announced this year’s Fallbrook Christmas Parade will be on Saturday,
December 2. Send an email to [email protected] to sign up as a volunteer.

Ron, KG6HSQ, has updated the club webpage to include several new sections, including a Fire
Department info.

Forrest, KK6BYR, reported that ground breaking has occurred for a new park in Fallbrook. The
park will be south of Fallbrook Street between Golden Road and Morro Road.

Ruben, KD6CWI, reminded us of this 10m net each Monday at 2000 hours on 28.340 MHz.

Bob, W6VR, reported on his work with broadcast station KWVE 107.9 which has purchased the
former KDIS/KRDC, 1110 KHz Los Angeles. Their transmitting antenna is built on landfill and
is sinking. Work is in progress to correct this condition. The antenna array on that site will be
diplexed for use by two stations.

Don, W6PLT, updated that he is now up on HF with a little help from Hayden, KG6YVD.
Frederick, KN6YDQ also reported HF progress with help from Hayden.

President Ron Patten, KG6HSQ, adjourned that meeting at 1555 hrs.
