The pledge of allegiance was conducted by Ron, KG6HSQ.
Ron, KG6HSQ, had the attendees go around the room and introduce themselves, as we had several people new to our meeting in attendance.

Ron, KG6HSQ, reported on his recent search for neighborhood radio interference that make it impossible to hear VHF repeaters on Mt. Palomar. His search lead to a SDGE recloser on a nearby pole. He showed a slide of the interference waveform which was much more regular than the usual arcing noise.
Ron, KG6HSQ, gave a presentation on “An Introduction to SDR Receivers”. Many software designed radio dongles are currently available for as little as $20. One of the least expensive is the RTL-SDR (rtl-sdr.com) dongle now in version 4. On program mentioned was SDR Angel. He demonstrated another program, RTL-433, and used it to display vehicle tire pressure sensors in the near vicinity. Another OS and program package is Dragon OS. This includes a Linux distribution that can be installed or run from a USB thumb drive. Packaged with the OS are numerous programs for use with an SDR.
Ron, KG6HSQ, reminded all the attendees to sign in on the sign-in sheet and also the sign-up for the Avocado Festival, if the wish to participate. To receive and Avocado Festival T-shirt, participants must sign up before the end of the month and specify their shirt size.
Ron, KG6HSQ, called for members to related any project or activities they wished to share with the group.
Hayden, KG6YVD, is working on a hoist to replace the manual crank-up on this tower. The manual method is beyond what one individual wants to attempt.
Brent, KJ6UMY, demonstrated the XY-Clock, a $10 NTP (Network Time Protocol) clock that connects to the internet to set the time.
Hayden, KG6YVD, mentioned that the Quadra ham clock from inovato.com is another option. I plugs into a monitor and displays a lot of information in addition to time.
Taka, KI6DOS, brought several ham books for anyone present who would like them.
Lee, KM6UFF, also brought several items, including books, an SWR meter and an equipment case for anyone who wants them.
Stephen, KC6MIE, mentioned that K0CSD is selling many items and a few remain, including a Samlex power supply. Anyone interested should contact him directly
Bob, W6VR, related his experience with T-Mobile wireless home internet. At times the performance is very poor.
Brent, KJ6UMY, reported that AT&T is petitioning the California Public Utilities Commission to discontinue all landline service in the State of California. This will probably include all DSL service.
Don, W6PLT, is new to HF operation. Using and end fed half wave antenna, he has made voice contacts in Queensland, Australia.
President Ron Patten, KG6HSQ, adjourned that meeting at 1502 hrs.
