Here is an outstanding YouTube video featuring in part Dennis Doty, a transmitter supervisor for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. Dennis was stationed at KNBC’s transmitter plant on Mt. Wilson as the Eaton Fire crested Wilson on January 9, 2025. Click on this link, ignore or skip the commercials if possible, then the video of interest begins:

As far as we know this morning, only one building on Mt. Wilson was destroyed. It is shown in the first photo attached. The “mystery building” contained two-way radio equipment that was apparently not broadcast related. The following photos are screen shots from a KTLA-TV camera on Mt. Wilson.

President Ron Patten, KG6HSQ, called the meeting to order at 1502 hrs.

The pledge of allegiance was conducted by Ron, KG6HSQ.

Brent, KJ6UMY, gave the following financial report:

Ron, KG6HSQ, reported that roof work will be performed on the Scouthut in the coming months
We will need to remove our equipment from the radio room

Ron, KG6HSQ, related the Club events worked in the Fall. These included the Harvest Faire
where the Club performed traffic control and had a booth. Activity Day, where members setup
on a lot adjacent to Stephen’s, KC6MIE, neighbor. Various members worked HF voice, Winlink
and other modes. The next Activity Day will be March 31st. The big events was the annual
Christmas Parade. The Parade went smoothly this year with no major incidents. Ron showed
pictures of Club members during the parade.

Ron, KG6HSQ, announced the annual election of club officers. A motion was made to re-elect
the current officers and was passed by the membership without opposition.

Ron, KG6HSQ, had the members and guest go around the room and introduce themselves.

Ron, KG6HSQ, gave a presentation on past fires from May 14, 2014. There were 9 fires in the
region. Ron spoke specifically about the Tomahawk and Highway Fires. The Tomahawk Fire
started on the Naval Weapons Station. The Highway Fire was around the intersection of
Highway 76 and Old Highway 395 affecting the Monserate mobile home park.

Stephen, KC6MIE, brought in equipment he is disposing of in preparation for his house move.

President Ron Patten, KG6HSQ, adjourned that meeting at 1559 hrs.
