Meeting Minutes

Fallbrook Amateur Radio Club
Virtual Meeting, Fallbrook, California
March 6, 2021

President Ron Patten, KG6HSQ, called the virtual Zoom meeting to order at 1505 hrs.

A pledge of allegiance was conducted by Forrest, KK6BYR.

Ron, KG6HSQ, reported that he has heard from Arnie, N6UXM. He was hospitalized with COVID for 7 days. He offered greetings from South Carolina and is doing OK with his recovery.

Hayden, KG6YVD, reported that former president Jon Bart is recovering from his cardiac heart valve replacement. He is in considerable discomfort, but is doing physical therapy and recovering.

Ron, KG6HSQ, has been working on the FARC webpage secure, HTTPS version. He is engaging an external service that should speed up webpage response. He traveled to Red Mountain after the rain and restored the Echo Link repeater, which went offline earlier. No problem was found with the unit. It might have been taken offline by a power outage.

Lee, KM6UFF, gave a presentation on how to assemble your own LiFePO 280AH battery with cells sourced from China. Ron indicated that he will post the presentation on the club website.

Hayden, KG6YVD, reported on using his new Stepper IR antenna for this weekends ARRL DX contest. He related that he is feeling like a kid who has found a new red fire truck under the Christmas tree.

Bob, W6RMG, is watching the progress of the new Mars rover. He mentioned that there will be a Lunar eclipse in May(?).

Bob, W6VR, asked the members to report their progress with the COVID vaccines. A discussion of vaccine opportunities and reactions followed.

Stephen, KC6MIE, is sending an email with a 60m “fat dipole” design.

Ron, KG6HSQ, adjourned the meeting at 1605 hrs.
