Technician Class

Announcing a free Ham radio in-person, all-day, entry-level “Technician Class” workshop — Saturday, February 5, 2022 in Poway (San Diego County), CA. For more information, or to start the registration process, please send an email to [email protected]

Save The Date: next San Diego ARES Informal Outdoor Activity Day — Saturday, January 15, 2022

ECs and designated leaders will organize activities at multiple locations across San Diego County and Imperial County, as we did for 11/20. Feedback on the 11/20 event was overwhelmingly positive, and people are anxious to repeat the event. Some areas want to try different locations and/or different activities. The January 15 date should be early enough to avoid encroaching on Quartfest, Winter Field Day, Yuma Hamfest, and a few other ham events which follow later in January and in February. Planning to follow.

Analog Computers!

A tale involving Laplace, Shannon and Lord Kelvin. One of the jobs early in my career was to design an analog focus computer for the FLIR portion of the A6E TRAM (target recognition attack multi-sensor). It implemented a third order polynomial using op amps and analog multipliers.
